Our popular Jazz Cabaret Series takes on a fresh twist by blending the program’s traditional vocal performances with the thrilling return of last season’s dueling keyboardists. Prepare to be mesmerized as the fingers of Asriel Davis and Isaiah Shim fly over the keys, showcasing exceptional technique and improvisational flair. Fan favorites Erin Wegner Brooks and Montel Butler, alongside Grammy-winning Tynan Davis, join them on stage in a dazzling program that mixes prepared repertoire, on-the-spot improvisation, and even audience requests.

  • Tynan Davis is a dynamic and playful singer and teacher who hates labels and loves pushing boundaries.

    She sings what makes her happy, and hopes it makes you happy too.

    In 2016 she released her first solo album TYNAN - a collection of jazzy tunes you know and love from film, tv, and theater.

    In 2019 she won a GRAMMY for Best Opera Recording with the Boston Modern Orchestra Project. She toured North America for the better part of 3 years with The Phantom of the Opera, where she met her now-husband and danced 8 shows a week until she was 7.5 months pregnant. Currently she sings most frequently with 2-time GRAMMY Award winning contemporary vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth and the 6-time GRAMMY nominated Skylark Ensemble. Tynan is a teacher and clinician who specializes in reintroducing corporate executives to their voices and bodies and reminding them who they were before the world got in the way through singing. She wishes she lived closer to Colleen Daly so that they could sing and cook good food together all the time.

  • Erin Wegner Brooks is a seasoned storyteller who enjoys bringing stories to life on stage, on camera, and on the mic. Erin performed in the 1st National Tour of Young Frankenstein and Cirque Dreams, Off-Broadway in Pinkalicious, Wuthering Heights, and A Stoop on Orchard Street, in Las Vegas as a principal singer for Jubilee!, with Disney both nationally and internationally.

    Erin owns Allegro Productions and works as a full time Voice-Over artist, telling stories and bringing characters to life.  Happy clients include: Microsoft, Clinique, Amazon, Nationwide Insurance, Walmart Family Mobile, Facebook/META, 3M, Frigidaire, Baby Einstein, Chase, Benjamin Moore, NFCU, and VISA.

    Erin’s solo cabaret show “Dare to Dream: Inspiration from the Broadway Songbook” played to sold-out audiences in NYC and Maryland.  She loves singing at St. Louis and is excited to collaborate on this jazz cabaret.

  • Montel B. Butler is a captivating artist based in New York City who has utilized his training and vocal prowess to perform professionally all over the world, in theaters both domestically and internationally.

    Most recently he was seen As the Lead Drifter in Olney Theatre’s production of Beautiful. He was also honored to be a special guest vocalist of Natalie Weiss in her one-night-only engagement in Maryland “Natalie Weiss in concert.” Montel was also a member of the world premiere cast of the critically acclaimed “Gun and Powder” at Signature theatre.

    His passion for singing also led him to being an ensemble member in the 2023 Phish New Year’s eve concert at Madison Square Garden, as well as singing background vocals for Sam Smith on NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

    He is a proud member of Actor’s equity Association, and is also a professional voice instructor.

    Montel was raised in Virginia where he began to explore his love of singing in the church and on ALL car rides with his beloved grandmother. He later obtained his Bachelor of Science in Music from Towson University in Baltimore Maryland.

  • Conductor and keyboardist Isaiah Shim currently serves as Assistant Conductor of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and Columbia Pro Cantare, as well as Organist at St Louis Church.

    Concerts in the region have been with the Annapolis Opera, Baltimore Chamber and Symphony Orchestras, Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras, Montgomery Philharmonic, National Symphony Orchestra, and Young Artists of America as well as performances in countries of four continents.

    Mr Shim received graduate degrees in conducting and collaborative piano from the Peabody Institute of The Johns Hopkins University under the mentorship of Marin Alsop, Joseph Young, and Eileen Cornett. Additionally, he received Bachelor of Music degrees in piano performance and music education from Wheaton College in Illinois, where he studied with Drs Karin Redekopp Edwards, Daniel Sommerville, and John William Trotter.

  • In 2023, The Diapason magazine named Asriel Davis one of its “20 Under 30” outstanding young organists, recognizing his excellence in organ performance and sacred music. A versatile keyboard artist, he is equally accomplished as a pianist, with a command of both solo and collaborative repertoire. He holds a Master’s degree in Organ Performance from Syracuse University, where he refined his technical skill and musical expression across keyboard disciplines.

    Asriel has performed with world-renowned ensembles such as The Aeolians of Oakwood University and the Jason Max Ferdinand Singers, under the direction of Jason Max Ferdinand. His career has taken him across the United States and internationally, with performances throughout Europe, South Africa, the Bahamas, and beyond. He has also brought his talents to national television, performing on Saturday Night Live.

    With a repertoire spanning from Baroque to contemporary works, Asriel moves fluently between sacred, concert, and popular music settings. In addition to performing, he is a published composer and arranger with GIA Publications, contributing original compositions and arrangements to the sacred and choral music repertoire.

  • Joey Antico is a world-class drummer and percussionist, highly in demand both in the DMV area and beyond. While rooted in jazz, Antico is passionate about bridging the gap between diverse musical styles. As a local and touring musician, Antico has had the privilege of performing alongside a wide range of acclaimed artists, including Tony Award-winning actress and singer Bernadette Peters, jazz trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis, acclaimed rapper .idk., steelpan virtuoso Josanne Francis, and Pop RnB artist Brooklyn Kohl, among others. His adaptability, creative instincts, and rhythmic precision make him a standout collaborator on any stage.

    Antico’s achievements include being named an Artist in Residence at Strathmore Music Center—a recognition that led to a headline performance at The Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage debuting his standout project Joey Antico Collected Sound . His career has also taken him to some of the most prestigious venues in the country, including NPR’s Tiny Desk, Capital One Arena, and the 9:30 Club, where he continues to captivate audiences with his expressive, high-energy performances.

    His musical journey has extended internationally as well. In 2021, Antico traveled to Haiti to perform at PAPJAZZ Fest, an experience that further solidified his role as a global ambassador of rhythm and cultural exchange.

    With a deep respect for tradition and a constant eye toward innovation, Joey Antico continues to push musical boundaries—always listening, always evolving.

  • Matthew Carroll is a freelance bassist in the DMV. While musical theatre tends to fill his dance card, Matthew is equally at home backing singer-songwriters, rocking out with cover bands, and performing with orchestral and chamber ensembles. Doubling on electric and upright basses, and the occasional tuba, Carroll brings a strong foundation and genre authenticity to each and every gig.
